Not my game, but i wouldn't mind knowing why black would resign, it does not seem to be mate?
Game 756165
Thanks for your help
On the contrary my friend.
If black takes white's bishop, white takes the pawn with queen, checkmate because of the rook.
If Black chooses not to take the bishop, then White advances his e-file pawn, and then takes the pawn with his bishop, again, checkmate.
Also, white could take the pawn with his bishop, forcing the king to take the bishop, and white could start a massive king hunt from that point forward.
Black is unable to move his queen due to White's queen move to c8 checkmate.
No matter how you look at it, Black's got a fork stuck in him.

I'm unsure exactly which line you mean. It's black move in the final position. So what are you suggesting he play.
Also when Bxf7 it's check (or checkmate) so black has to move the king.
In the final position black plays Rh6 (instead of resigning). The bishop is now under threat of RxB or PxB so should move away or play Bxf7.
If Bxf7 then KxB - What is white's best continuation???
Originally posted by XanthosNZJust a quick note, doesn't 20. ... Qd6 lead to 21. Qc8 Qd8 22. Qxd8 mate? Which is, in fact, mate in two?
17. ... Rh6 18. Bxf7+ Kxf7 19. Qf5+ Ke8 (all other moves seem to allow mate) 20. e6!
Black is left with Qd6, Qd7 and Qxf4+ as options to avoid mate in two. All are obviously lost.
Sorry if I'm splitting hairs here.
