On Polgar's blog some of those loudmouths look familiar especially the guy who says at the risk of getting banned :-

I maybe even banned from this website for what I am about to write. Let me start with this: Aronian is right....

That's irrelevant, she was 7th at one point i seem to remember. She might be past her best (i know she took time out to have kids! How many GM's have this sort of forced absence?) but in her day she could beat anyone in the World, Kasparov included!

Hopefully we can now bury the myth that great chess players have to be particularly intelligent.

"Yes well anyone with a brain can see Polgar is in the top 10 in the World. What a dumbass!"

Last time I checked "is" refers to the present, thus pointing out that she is not currently in the top ten is hardly irrelevant. Polgar, like almost everyone else in the World, had a terrible record against Kasparov, and I believe she only ever beat him in one rapidplay game.

You guys are really silly.
Maybe it is some kind of perceived threat to the male ego.
Get over it and play chess.

Haha! To be at that level, I'm guessing that their time must be narrowly focused on chess. It is thus not surprising that ignorant comments are sometimes made. This does not mean that they are not extremely intelligent, in at least several aspects. Playing at the 2200 level is already incredibly difficult but it can hardly compare to the astronomical 2700 level. For a game wholly of the mind, it's certain that at a certain point, the differences are more than just a result of training.

On the other hand, the discussion is by no means settled and it would be silly to label Aronian as just an ignorant fool. It's obvious that Judith Polgar can play at the highest levels, but this does not mean that women on average are equally capable in chess. I am inclined to think that women are equally capable even on average but this is no more than a guess. Either way, it shouldn't change anything. They should be encouraged and have full opportunity to play, just like their male counterparts.

Speaking of women's chess, the world would have liked to have seen a match between Xie Jun and Zhusa Polgar (who was too scared to play) and forfeited the match. I wanted to ask in Polgar's blog but she might ban me if I asked.

No male player has been that and won.

What the chess world needs is a pregnant tournament. Men *and* women are encouraged to participate.

Pregnant men can't play chess, they are too emotional!
