I knew that qh2g1 was mate and had been intending to play it for hours but when I made the move I unaccountably played qh2g2

    Move 19b...

Did you scream noooooooo!, right after you clicked submit?

Ok, it was bad, but you shouldn't have resigned. Maybe taken a break from that game and come back to it later or another day.

After Kxg2, you could play Ne3+.

    Then:
    dxe3 Rxd1
    Rxd1 Bxe3

and you're a knight down but with four extra pawns. Would've been an interesting game from there.

Just about - I stared at the screen expecting to see "Black Wins" but then when I realised what I'd done I just paced round and round with my head in my hands saying "nnnnnnnnnnn" - couldn't quite get the "ooooooo" bit out :-)

I resigned it. There's just too much pain involved :-)

I don't like resigning games early because I always feel ...[text shortened]... right really - it was still playable, I could have won his Queen, and I should have carried on.

You shouldn't have resigned you were only 1 point down!

yup, you missed the quick mate

Look at the bright side. You're much less likely to miss (or forget) this queen-bishop mating couple in future games. Try to burn that pattern into your long-term memory!

I must have been drunk when I didn't play 26...Qd1#. I went on to resign after playing horribly due to my own disgust.

Actually this was not even close to the worst blunder of all time. The worst blunder or all time occurred on Feb 12, 1983 when I uttered the words "I do" to my first wife. Trust me....waaaaay bigger mistake!!

Why didn't you play 15.Kh1!, he takes your queen, you take his, you're only a pawn down. Or am I missing anything?

finish that thought, he goes down a knight and a pawn.
