Every once in awhile I will play a computer, but not too often as it's not a lot of fun getting creamed in no time at all . . . and by a machine, no less. But today I did play against "Little ChessPartner" by Lokasoft over at chess.com, and I won! Last thing I expected to happen. Now I have to wonder just what that means. The setting was on easy. So what sort of strength was I up against? Anyone know?

I think the easy setting is for ratings between 850-1000 😉

I set it to 'hard' and no obvious blunders I guess except Bd3?. Playing Black. Interesting. It seems the program just lets itself get wore and worse. The usual one move threats you expect from weak Java apps.

Why does it move so fast I wonder??

I beat Chessmaster's "Natalie" Program (2300) taking advantage of its poor opening

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5? 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Qa5+, g6, 5.Nxg6, Nf6 6. Qa4, Hxg6 Qxa8, and then swapped forces down and won the endgame.

Chessmaster "Personality" settings are crappy. Beat it on it's normal, strongest mode.

GM Larry Christiansen couldn't do it in a six game match at tournament time.

ok, i just beat the Little Chesspartner with lvl 10 depth, I'd say the program is about 1800.

Perhaps you did mean 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5? 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Qh5+ g6 5.Nxg6, Nf6 6. Qh4 hxg6 7.Qxh8

2...f5 is not so bad, but 3...d6? (instead of 3...Qf6) is real mistake.
