It seems to be the same, according to Wikipedia: "Such a move [a Zwischenzug] is also called an intermezzo, intermediate move, or in-between move."

Thanks Nordlys, I should have just checked Wikipedia myself I spose!

On the subject, you can't beat a good intermezzo, like CMS posted they have the ability to change a game greatly sometimes.

Technically you are right, but conceptually it is a rather frequent pattern that I tend to classify as 'zwischen': one player has a winning set of moves, but it is interrupted by a checkmate.
