You asked why people don't turn into gorillas anymore. This (embarrassing) question alone demonstrated that you do not understand evolution, as nobody has claimed we ever evolved from gorillas.

If it helps, think of evolution as a tree. We originated from the same trunk, but we are on an entirely different branch to a gorilla. (So at no stage in our evolutionary journey were humans ever gorillas).
