Race questions.

If you overtake the personn in 2nd position what position are you now in?

If you overtake the person who is last what position are you in?

If you overtake the man in second you move from third to second. If you overtake the man in last it would mean that you were actually the man in last because he was in front of you. Therefore it is impossible to overtake the man in last.

Unless your were in 1st and you lapped the the person who was last.

Then you could overtake the person in last place.

EDIT - In which case you could be any position but last if you overtake the last position.

That would be true for a straight run race but suppose its an oval? Then you could lap someone and of course the first one you lap would be in last place but you would still be in first place.
