Final guess: Planet Earth ... Gaia
I will admit, you came close to convincing me with this one! Closest guess so far!
I will list each guess to try to prove my answer is correct since i know there will be staunch resistance. I will go through each and list the minimum things it had wrong with it.
Breath: Not life.
Fire: Not life. (/flame, / candle)
Frog: POSSIBLE ANSWER, but not the best possible answer. It isn't air as fully as the answer.
Sun: Not life.
Ozone: Not life (/atmosphere)
Bird: POSSIBLE ANSWER, but same deal as a frog. Any air-breathing organism will fit this.
Breath in a suffocating person's lungs: It is killing the person, the breath will not die. Not life.
Wind elemental: Not dying.
Carbon: Not life.
Brain cell: Not life.
Planet Earth: POSSIBLE ANSWER, but not as good as the answer is in life.
The biggest problem with these guesses is most of you guessed inanimate objects. Some symbolized life, but are NOT alive / life.
The answer is: Tree (or plants, or such.)
A) It hates humans. We kill thousands a day!
B) They are dying. 1 – deforestation. 2 – simply each tree is dying.
C)They are life. And they supply life
They have air. That's a big “how” on why the earth features life. Trees take in carbon and supply oxygen, thus they are emphatically air.
D)
Generally any animal will work, but because the tree supplies the air AND takes it in, the tree (or plant) is a better answer. Also, animals do not hate humans...
ANY REFUTATIONS? I'd really like to see them.
trees don't "have air". they allow for percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere to remain within a range that is hospitable to living organisms that use that oxygen for respiration (including the trees themselves)... so to say they "are air" is more than a little vague. this is fine in the context of a puzzle, but i think if you are allowing for these vaguenesses, then "tree" doesn't find itself at the top of the list for answers to the original puzzle. and personally, i think that breath is as much "life" as a tree is "air."
also the english phrases "breath of fresh air," "breath of life," and "dying breath" make breath a particularly good choice as an answer to this riddle; maybe even better than the intended answer.
