To reevaluate the corresponding Scene in "A prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving.

Possibly because she identifies with the foul ball. It represents latent danger.

Nobody is suggesting we need to know it are they?
Why did you even ask the question ... why not stay quiet?

The spats between you and D64 are rather tedious you know.

Interesting story.

I can't imagine there is a legal claim (even in USA) don't
you go to sports venues at your own risk? There must be
quite a few spectator deaths over the years at golf tournaments
and rally cross. Can't recollect any action being taken.

Brittanie Nichole Cecil (March 20, 1988 – March 18, 2002) was a hockey fan who died from injuries suffered when a puck was deflected into the stands and struck her in the left temple at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on March 16, 2002.
Died: March 18, 2002 (aged 13); Columbus, Ohio
Born: Brittanie Nichole Cecil; March 20, 1988

I believe because of that death is the reason they started putting the netting up at each end of the NHL arena's for the fans safety. Now there is nothing but glass along the sides so if a puck when over the glass hard enough we could see it happen again unfortunately.
