I raise the matter because I've noticed poor/slow take-up to many of these July tournaments, leading to one obvious conclusion that the appetite for rapidplay tourneys is limited over the summer. A pity, imo
I think you can narrow it down to the fact that members can create their own Private Tournaments. All this has lead to a devaluation of a tournament win, in my opinion. Why enter a site tournament when you can create your own?
Fine. I'm not a clan leader, but I could work round that. So if I was interested in running a private, by-invitation only, octet or sextet, this could be set up under a clan? Would I be able to invite non-clan members to play?
What I'm mulling over is an invitation event for players close to my playing strength, either themed or open, that would include only carbon-based life-forms 🙄

Every subsriber can make his private tournaments. At the moment when you create a tournament you send messages to selected people from your side. This people get with your message a key for the tournament, no other subscriber can join the tournament without this key.
At least there must be 8 players. Before you can start, you must get your own link-key, which you can get from russ, for example perhaps also over the function feedback.
Any question, you can ask me.
By the way you can create only one tournament per month by this way
