For the not-so-elite

I would really like to see one or two tournaments for players stuck between Midway and Elite, something like 1600-1900, on the basis that it is nice (and, of course, more challenging) to play others who are at a similar level.

Finding a name for this group of players might be a bit tricky. How about Pretenders? 😏

Or "Aspirational middle-class?"

Well, There is a "Best of the Rest" (1500 - 1900) but I'm still missing a tournament opportunity for "Middle Earth"-players (1400 - 1500). 3TO+14TB preferred.

How about 1300-1500, a nice 200 rating spread. Also give you 1400's some people to beat-up on.

I too am waiting for a 1300-1500 tourney. Also, I believe this group has been labeled "mid" or "midi" (for mid-intermediate, I think) in the past. There was a few of them awhile back.

Yes, I think you have to be a subscriber to enter tournaments. But it is worth it, because they are fun. A pity though that most of the times I don' t make it to round two 😛
