Chess Slayer, should you discuss the details of games in progress?

Don't your comments just invite someone to comment, potentially assisting either side, and thus breaking the TOS?
Sorry, Gatecrasher. Never saw it that way. I'll refrain 🙂

Thanks Gatecrasher and Chess Slayer for your support...😏

Another important update:

Group 29 - Talem16 (1706) has resigned and Kingo2000 (1749) progress alone.

Now, there's only 5 groups still open to define their leading player or players to progress: Group 5, 15, 17, 21 and 28.

And there's 34 players progressing to 2nd round in 33 groups, including Group 21, which is still open to one more player.

The page 10 full updated list of players that might progress to the 2nd round by group with prognostics for the open groups:

Group 2 - futureman (1786) progress.

Group 3 - Exy (1915) progress.

Group 4 - Quirine (2121) progress.

Group 5 - Open. Chess Slayer (1957) and ericfrelicot (1902) fight against each other to progress.

Chess Slayer leads the group and just needs to draw his last game or a defeat of ericfrelicot to progress.

If ericfrelicot win all his unfinished games, including his game against Chess Slayer, he progress alone. If he lose for Chess Slayer, Chess Slayer progress alone.

Group 6 - cludi (2127) progress.

Group 7 - nicohuyboom (2185) progress.

Group 8 - David Tebb (2297) progress.

Group 9 - nickybutt (1625) progress.

Group 10 - Duhian (2255) progress.

Group 11 - hooptroop (1664) progress.

Group 12 - Baca (2242) progress.

Group 13 - GauravV (1774) progress.

Group 14 - cantspell (1548) progress.

Group 15 - Totally open. SteveC (2084), David G (1925) and ivanhoe (1924) fight against each other to progress.

SteveC leads the group. If he draw one more game he progress. If he win one more game or his opponents lose points one for another, he progress alone.

ivanhoe needs to win all his games and a draw between his opponents to progress. If he win all his games and SteveC lose for DavidG, he progress alone.

David G needs to win all his games and a SteveC's defeat for ivanhoe to progress with SteveC.

Group 16 - Perrys (2108) progress.

Group 17 - Open. cbd (1932) and Grand Master Gav (1854) fight against each other to progress.

Group 23 - Knight Time (1668) progress.

Group 24 - crusoe (1646) progress.

Group 25 - Prefect (1811) progress.

Group 26 - Northern Lad (2199) progress.

Group 27 - mistsplicer (1862) progress.

Group 28 - Open. koen (1962), rosaline (1952) and B Rock (1751) can progress.

koen lost important points to Vovochka (1714). He have to win his games against B Rock and beg for rosaline lose some points for B Rock to progress.

If koen win all his games and rosaline win just one game and draw another, koen progress with rosaline.

Unless B Rock, as koen to Vovochka, has lost important points to BrainB5 (1618), he's in a more comfortable condition than koen, because he's still fighting against his immediate opponents.

If he win all his games except one he progress alone. If he win all his games against another players, draw both games with koen and one game with rosaline and win a game from rosaline, he progress with rosaline.

At the best position on the group, rosaline just have to win a game and draw another to progress. If he win both games he progress alone.

Group 29 - Kingo2000 (1749) progress.

Group 30 - TRACKHEAD21 (1655) progress.

Group 31 - Gatecrasher (2047) progress.

Can I post my white flag here and now ?

I got thru in a relatively weak group so i've been practising against 1900 opponents and been stuffed ! 1700s are frightening me too.

I think i need to sort out my openings...playing off the cuff can get you thru against my ranking and below to some extent but jeez its obvious that the big boyz know how to destroy a weak opener.

Good stuff Gil by the way, fascinating analysis 🙂

Thanks for your supporting Steve,

Keep on your practicing, you are into the 2nd round, so you can make it. Technically, you have the same chances of Ironman31... 😉

Now, an important update:

Group 28 - B Rock (1727) has lost his games against rosaline (1991) and koen (1951) for timeout. This way, rosaline progress alone.

Ouch ! So hurtful and yet so true !

Great experience though...I only started playing for the first time in over 25 years back in Oct/Nov 2004 so I am enjoying the ride !

I'm a damn sight better at tennis !

Important update:

Group 15 - Open. SteveC (1635), David G (1908) and ivanhoe (1951) fight against each other to progress.

SteveC has lost his last games against his immediate opponents, ivanhoe and David G, and depends on their results to progress.

If ivanhoe win both games against David G, he progress alone.

If David G win both games against ivanhoe, he progress with SteveC.

If ivanhoe and David G lose points for each other, SteveC progress alone.

if ivanhoe wins then ivanhoe progresses alone,
if loss or draw then SteveC progresses alone

Game over; Davidg wins, so SteveC advances alone. He's resigned all his games though; wonder if he'll show up for the second round?
