A Spanish special olympics (mental retardation) team was disqualified from the Olympics because 10 of 12 players weren't retarded. Some people are just cheaters; no matter what the rule, they'll find a way around it.

So i left this guy User 60478 a crappy message after noticing his ranking was over 1600 in an under 1200 tournament...
Now he has resigned ALL his games. Maybe to start sandbagging all over again.
Originally posted by surtismI dont believe that my rating has been 200+ points over. If you look at my past history you will note that i have averaged mid to upper 1200s . Since joining the Tournament my play has improved. I finally reached 1400 after i entered. Take what you will. My play is far and above over shadowed by my opponents 500+ difference

Originally posted by Micahel GLol, did you want to name me?! i told you my reasons, my rating was 1600 when I had about 150 games going, then I completely lost interest in Chess as I am prone to do, lost all games on timeouts, rating went to 900. That was a year and a half ago.
Is naming and shaming allowed? We could do that.
Originally posted by MontyMooseWhere did you get the idea that sandbagging was not allowed?
Public accusations of cheating and sandbagging are not allowed. The "fair play" and "feedback" system are in place for these problems. As an indivdual you can ignore/refuse to play anyone you choose.
Originally posted by CamelClutchI am the player in question. I have done nothing wrong and had no malicious or insidious intent. I have had many games time out on me over the years. I was in the hospital for quite a while with no access to a computer. I have moved three times in as many years. My work and personal life will always take priority to my chess games. All of these things have caused me to time out. I would also like to add, after being confronted by this player I offered to quit the tournament at which point he would have been named winner. He did choose to continue. I would like to commend him for not wanting to win in such a way. I don't want people to think poorly of me. I just enjoy the game. I can be pretty good when i can concentrate and make pretty stupid moves when i don't.
I'm currently in a tournament that was billed as being for players ranked 0 to 1100. The guy I'm playing is currently ranked 1400+, while I am 1000 something.
I thought "well, this tournament has dragged on since November, maybe he's had a good run and improved his record since then."
But then I scrolled back through his record and his highest rank ...[text shortened]... anking.
I would welcome input, especially from the folks who actually work for the site.

Have a look at the [b]March 2008 Banded Duel 1350-1475 (Tournament 3489)
We have 17 contenters for 2nd place..
We have 1 player who hasn't moved for 2 months..
And we have 1 player who's rated 1700+
