Sort the tournament into descending rating order, that is the top seed is 1 and the bottom seed is X where X is the size of the tournament.
Pair the players up so that the top half plays the bottom half. For example with 32 players;
1 plays 17
2 plays 18
.....
16 plays 32
That's original pairing.
