Can anybody tell me how many usually advance to round 2 ?

I don't think people advance in Xmas grands. Whoever wins wins.

It says:
Round 1
3 points for a win, 1 for a draw. Leading player or players progress. Winner of the final group wins the tournament.

You can consider this the (first and) final group. The one with the most points is victorious.
Otherwise you had to play some of the same players again in the next round. That would be a bit silly...

Yeah, it says that for every tournament I believe.

You will get a playoff if two or more people tie for first place, otherwise 1 round is all you get.
