siege ethical question

Here's a question: prefect just went on vacation on a one day timeout. will the time out be claimed automaticaly or am I forced to defend my castle any way I can. It's an interesting ethical question well worth pondering.
Tough hop, get back in line? Or to wait for prefect to pummel me?
