Jiří Štoček is a Czech chess Grandmaster (GM), born on December 13, 1970. He has represented the Czech Republic in several Chess Olympiads, including those held in 1992, 2000, 2002, 2008 and 2010. Štoček became a Grandmaster in 1993 and has remained at the forefront of Czech chess since then. Štoček was awarded the first place in the Czech Championship in 2002, and he has had success in international tournaments too, such as the Prague Open in 2006, when he took second place. Additionally, he played for Czech Republic in the European Team Chess Championship (1999, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011). Moreover, he has not only represented the Czech Republic, but he has also achieved high placings in a number of international tournaments and competitions, such as the European Individual Chess Championship 2008, where he ended fifth. Štoček is also known for winning the Czech Chess Championship in 2019.
