Matthias Blübaum is a German chess player who achieved the grandmaster title in 2015. He was born on October 18, 1997, in Zehdenick, Germany. He is among the top German chess players.
Blübaum learned chess at a young age, and by 2010, he was already winning state-level championships. In 2011, he became International Master, shortly after he became European Champion U14 in Albena, Bulgaria. He gained his grandmaster title in 2015 after coming second in the Grenke Chess Open.
Blübaum's other notable achievements include winning the German Chess Championship in 2017 and the strong Xtracon Open in Helsingor in 2018. He also took part in the 2017 Chess World Cup, reaching the second round of match play.
