Viorel Iordăchescu is a Moldovan chess grandmaster, born on 10th April 1977. He earned his grandmaster title in 1999 at the age of 22. Over the years, he has achieved multiple significant victories and titles in the chess world.
Iordăchescu has competed in many international chess events. In 2005, he won the Baku Open. In 2007, he won the Inautomarket Open in Minsk. He won the 9th Kolkata Open in 2011 and also competed at the European Individual Chess Championships multiple times.
Internationally, he represented Moldova at ten Chess Olympiads from 1996 to 2016. He was also part of his national team at the World Team Chess, European Team Chess Championships, and participated in the FIDE World Cup 2005 and 2011. His best result was reaching the third round in 2005.
