Michał Krasenkow is a Polish chess Grandmaster, coach, commentator and author. He was born on 14 November 1963 in Moscow, Russia, and moved to Poland at the age of 33. He achieved the status of Grandmaster in 1989. He is considered one of the top Polish chess players, and has been ranked as high as eleventh worldwide.


In his career, Krasenkow has won several tournaments including the Najdorf Memorial in 1997, and the Polish Championship in 2000. He has represented his country in numerous team competitions such as the Chess Olympiad, where he won three silver medals and one bronze medal, the World Team Chess Championship, where he won a silver and bronze medal, and the European Team Chess Championship, where he has won a gold, three silver and three bronze medals.



All of his accomplishments have led to him being awarded the title of 'Honoured Master of Sports of Russia' which is one of the highest possible honours given by Russia for excellence in sports. He also has received the same honour from Poland for his significant contributions to Polish sports.
