Born on 10th October, 1942 in Łódź, Poland, Kuczyński began his career in the 1962 Polish Chess Championship and won bronze in the 21st Polish Junior Chess Championship that year. In 1963, he became champion of Łódź, which boosted his ranking and opened up more opportunities.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Kuczyński actively participated in several international tournaments and exhibitions. He participated in the Rubinstein Memorial tournament five times and achieved seventh place in 1973. He also won the international chess tournament in Minsk (1972) and the open chess tournaments in Kecskemét (1978) and Lázně Libverda (1982).

Kuczyński has written numerous books and publications on chess, making him a substantial contributor to chess literature. His book, "The Struggle of Chess Ideas," published in 1981, is considered one of the most important chess books in Poland. However, his contribution goes beyond writing; He is also a renowned chess trainer who has produced several training materials used by both amateur and professional chess players.

In 1979, Kuczyński served as a second for Zbigniew Doda during the World Chess Championship Interzonal Tournament in Riga. He was also a regular collaborator of the magazine "Szachy" (Chess), where he published many chess compositions.

Today, Kuczyński's lifetime dedication to chess, as well as his notable accomplishments in professional competitive play and education, are well appreciated within the chess community.
