Aleksander Miśta is a Polish chess Grandmaster (GM). He achieved the title in 2005 after being awarded the International Master (IM) title in 2001. Born on 12th April 1983 in Warsaw, Poland, he has represented Poland in international competitions several times, garnering accolades and prizes.


He has won the Polish Chess Championship multiple times, securing first place in 2005 and 2013, and sharing first in 2008, though he lost on a tiebreak. His international accolades include winning the European Youth Chess Championship U18 in 2001, placing third in the European Junior Championship U20 in 2003, and securing third place in the European Championship U18 in 2001.


Miśta has participated in the Chess World Cup in 2007 and 2013. At the 2013 Chess World Cup, he made it to the third round where he was narrowly defeated by Russian GM Peter Svidler.


In terms of team competitions, Miśta has taken part in Chess Olympiads and European Team Chess Championships. Notably, he was a part of the Polish national team that won the silver medal at the 2013 European Team Chess Championship.


In 2017, he participated in the Tradewise Gibraltar Open and ended up in joint first place. He was also part of the Polish team that placed second at the 2009 European Team Chess Championship. In 2018, Miśta, along with three other Polish chess players, won silver at the Batumi Chess Olympiad.


Outside of his competitive career, Miśta is also a committed chess trainer. He worked for the UAE Chess Federation as a coach for their national women's team from 2015 to 2017.
