Nguyễn Anh Khôi is a Vietnamese chess player who earned the coveted Grandmaster title in January 2020. Born on November 22, 2001 in Ho Chi Minh City, he first gained worldwide recognition in 2012, at the age of 11, when he earned the title of FIDE Master. He became the youngest Vietnamese player to be awarded International Master status in 2015. Known for his expressive attacking style of play, Khôi holds multiple awards from international chess events. In 2013, he won the gold medal in the U10 category at the World Youth Chess Championships and in 2014 he won the U12 category in the same competition, making him a two-time World Youth Champion.
Khôi has represented Vietnam in multiple Chess Olympiads, including the 42nd Chess Olympiad in 2016. On club level, he plays for Saigon Sports Club in the Chinese Chess League, the most important chess club competition in Vietnam. His playing style is noted for its bold and innovative play, often taking risks to gain an advantage over his opponents. His notable games include a victory over Grandmaster Le Quang Liem in the Vietnamese Chess Championship in 2014, when he was just 12 years old.
