Nguyễn Văn Huy is a Vietnamese chess grandmaster who was born on January 14, 1979. He first started making a name for himself in national tournaments at a young age, and by 2002, he held the title of National Champion. Nguyễn Văn Huy became a FIDE Master in 1996, and then an International Master in 1998 when he was just 19 years old. His Grandmaster title was earned in 2004.
Some of his notable accomplishments include clinching Vietnamese National Championships in 2002, 2004 and 2009. Internationally, he became the third Vietnamese to ever win the ASEAN Championships in 2006. He also won the Zone 3.3 Championships of the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004, and represented Vietnam in the Chess Olympiad multiple times starting in 1998.
