Radosław Wojtaszek is a prominent Polish chess Grandmaster. He was born on January 13, 1987, in Elbląg, Poland. Wojtaszek earned the title of International Master in 2004 and was awarded the prestigious Grandmaster title in 2005.


Wojtaszek has secured notable achievements throughout his career. He scored his first major victory in the Polish Chess Championship in 2005 and then won the European Blitz Chess Championship in 2008. His success continued when he won the Najdorf Memorial, a famous chess tournament, in 2010. He then achieved another victory in the 2015 edition of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in the Challengers group.


Between 2008 and 2010, Wojtaszek was one of the main trainers for Viswanathan Anand, an Indian Grandmaster and chess World Champion. He assisted Anand in the World Chess Championships in 2008, 2010, and 2012.


Wojtaszek earned a share of first place in the Aeroflot Open 2011, but missed out on the overall title due to a tiebreak. He won the Lake Sevan round-robin tournament in Armenia in 2013. Later that year, he finished first in the International Neckar Open with a record 9/9 points.


In 2017, Wojtaszek won the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting and later earned a shared first spot at the Isle of Man Championship in 2018. He won the Polish Championship for a second time in 2019.


Wojtaszek is married to Alina Kashlinskaya, a Russian Woman Grandmaster and International Master. They got married in 2016 and both play competitive chess. They are among the top chess couples worldwide.
