Reverting largely the changes from the last year - forum post alerts are available to subscribers only and a maximum of 3 alerts each per user. *edit : each day

The hope that the forums could self-moderate if alerts were open to all has proven unachievable as the alert system is abused to act out petty squabbles creating way more moderation work, not less.

Also, a single uneditable alert is available per forum post. It is not possible to raise multiple alerts with different concerns.

These changes occurred in response to complaints by one of the primary troublemakers on the forums: @divegeester.

These changes were requested internally for forum moderation previously, and were implemented as a result of the tidal wave of alerts occurring over the weekend.

Preventing multiple alerts per user was a bug fix.

Who requested the changes is irrelevant. The system was being deliberately abused, and now that has been remedied.

You mean now it's being abused.
