Live Chess Beta

If you have time to kill between your correspondence moves, check out the new live feature (in beta). Real-time games with a selection of variants such as 960 and Crazy House

If you see a green indicator on the Live icon, then a game is waiting for an opponent

Ratings will be added soon, and will be calculated from all games played so far using a similar system to the correspondence site.

Live Chess

If you have no interest in live chess, and you don't want the "game waiting" indicator to distract you, you can turn it off in Site Settings.
