1024*768 is the minimum on most machines (old and new), so the old web design constraint of supporting at least 800*600 has been scrapped by me from this day on.

A quote from an old English textbook, but it's true. Besides, most machines can change their resolution without consuming much chess time. Good job with the makeover, Russ! It really invites new uses to come and check it out.
I say its prettier the home page, the only thing I would change its the users comments. To me like a potential user its easier to convence if you writte the source of the comments. like:
“Brilliant - a great way to play chess and keep in contact with my old friends.”
