Dozens of footballers are "on loan" to other clubs and are recalled from time to time so in effect play for more than one team
I think the only restriction they have is not playing against their parent club when on loanor in cup matches

That's certainly a valid point of view and I'm sure many clan leaders take the same position, which is fine.
I see it another way -- something like multi-clan membership is somehow anti-entropic, part of the work of the Weavers, or along those lines.
