Russ is quite aware of the problems. ... the reason Metallica, and others are angry that Russ has not
stepped in and removed the points from the collusion, is that he has done precisely that
in the past, in a situation that wasn't even as blatant as this. It was simply that the same
two players had 100 simultaneous challenges against each other. The ...[text shortened]... uss has not acted, and is
content to let it play out, regardless of the consequence apparently.
Originally posted by robbie carrobieSame as the provisional ratings assigned to non-clan players: an arbitrary number of clan-games would played with a provisional rating to ascertain a player's true strength, and so long as provisional ratings were in force, a modified formula would be used to calculate the rating rise or drop of opponents of provisionally-rated clan players.
Yes these are great suggestions and would be favoured by the Easy Riders.
The only reservation that I have on a system correlated to rise and falls in ELO. For example Player A (a 1700 rated player) joins the site and joins a clan and has a rating of 1400 provisionally assigned to him. As he plays his rating will increase until it reaches a zeni ...[text shortened]... enough to propel his clan forward all other things considered. How would you take care of this?
In your example of Player A with a true strength of 1700 but a provisional rating of 1400, it would quickly become apparent that the p1400 rating was too low. It would then be up to the clan captains to choose suitable opponents against Player A so that his rating would quickly come to reflect his true playing strength.
It could equally well go the other way, with a clan player assigned a p1400 rating but who had a true strength below that.
There would be a short-lived transitional phase with some players over- and others under-rated; once the ratings stabilized (i.e, once past the provisional-ratings stage), the issue would disappear.
Originally posted by moonbusThen perhaps both should be done. You can't reward collusion between 4 Clans, we all know who they are now....Easy Rider, Breaking Bad, Anti Metallica & Arrow. They have to be punished as were the Clans last year, with point roll backs and suspensions.

Then work on fixing/changing the clan system. Lets do both, so it NEVER happens again. It has given RHP a black mark, after all Admins hard work to make this a fun place for all of us to compete with folks from around the world.
Kind Regards,
Sincerely,

And the fix that Russ put in January this year helps.
But it fixes the problem after the fact, after the damage has been done.
In an IT world, we encounter problems which requires a solution from programming and data fix perspectives.
Just think if your bank zapped a large sum of money from your account.
The programming fix is useless to you if they don't put the money back, right ??
The points rollback represents the data fix, so to speak.
And since site administration has acknowledged a problem with programming fix,
then they should acknowledge the whole problem.
And fix the whole problem !!
Makes sense ??

It took me less than 10 minutes of my time.
