My understanding is that this is a continuation of the Casino Royale book.

CASINO ROYAL was the fist book written by Ian FLEMMING. If you read the original one, you would not find so much gadgets and sophisticated weapons as in the movies...
I got the whole collection of JAMES BOND 007's books... I know what I'm writing...

    Eassy tiger....

My point was that the last bond film was based on that book, so how can the new bond film be based on the same book ?

There have been other Bond films that weren't based on the books.

Never say, Never again was the first... I think.

Agree with what your where saying, just getting some info as was invited to a Bond party.

So I take it that the new movie is not based on a book per say, maybe a section of one

    Excellent film, by the way.
Bond's style is less "in your face" than ever before. But just look at the hotel swap scene. Classic Bond!
