I live in a secular society in the United Kingdom, or Great Britain or England, or whatever you want to call these Isles (apologies to Scotland, Wales and Ireland).

England, home of Henry VIII and the Reformation, the Enlightenment and the theory of gravity. Why is it in the 21st Century are America really so Religiously obsessed? Is it driven by their current President or the media in general?

Yeah. Especially with protestantism. Just look at the big deal over Janet Jackson's breast. Oh well, at least we aren't Singapore or Iran or something.

It is even worse with Bush in office! Oh, and Australia can have Mel Gibson back, thank you.

Edit! I didn't see your edit... Yes, Bush has a lot to do with it right now. Sad thing is, he's going to get the 'church vote' because they are to focused on God to realize Republicans are only for Big Business... and taking away the rights of citizens.

Well, it would be a refreshing change to see in the General and Debates forums a seperation of Church and State and especially Chruch and Chess!
