Also it can be shown that -0 == 0 like so:

-0
= -0 + (1 + -1) (by 1 + -1 = 0)
= -0 + -1 + 1 (by ass. and com. of addition)
= -(0 + 1) + 1 (by distribution)
= -1 + 1 (by 0 + 1 = 1)
= 0
