The statement is accurate: every $1 of SNAP benefits generates approximately $1.50 to $1.80 in economic activity, depending on economic conditions. This is because the money is spent on groceries, which supports businesses like grocery stores and farmers, and those businesses then have more income to spend on their own expenses and employees' wages, creating a ripple effect throughout the economy.
Economic multiplier effect: When people use SNAP benefits to buy food, that money goes to retailers. The retailers then use that money to pay their employees, buy more products from their suppliers, and cover other costs.
Multiplier depends on economic conditions: The exact multiplier effect can vary, but studies show it is higher during economic downturns when there are more underutilized resources in the economy.
Example: A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) study found that every $1 of SNAP benefits increased GDP by $1.54 in a slowing economy.
Wider economic impact: This increased spending creates a multiplier effect that extends beyond the initial purchase. For example, a dollar spent on SNAP benefits can lead to approximately $1.54 in additional economic activity by supporting jobs and income in industries like manufacturing, trade, and transportation.
So Trump and repubs are DOUBLE STUPID not even BEGINNING to analyze the benefits on our economy BESIDES helping children have food security.
Of course rebubs could give a rats ass about THAT unless they finally figure if they DON'T do something about the end of SNAP their sorry asses will be thrown out of office in MAJOR disgrace.
@sonhouse saidOh joy…everyone can quit working…we all gonna live on food-stamps

Two economists are walking in a forest when they come across a pile of crap.
The first economist says to the other “I’ll pay you $100 to eat that pile of crap.”
The second economist takes the $100 and eats the pile of crap.
They continue walking until they come across a second pile of crap.
The second economist turns to the first and says “I’ll pay you $100 to eat that pile of crap”
The first economist takes the $100 and eats a pile of crap.
Walking a little more, the first economist looks at the second and says, "You know, I gave you $100 to eat crap, then you gave me back the same $100 to eat crap. I can't help but feel like we both just ate crap for nothing."
"That's not true", responded the second economist. "We increased the GDP by $200!"
@Mott-The-Hoople saidWHAT FKING PART of the FACT JACK that 1 dollar spent on SNAP means the ENTIRE ECONOMY goes up by ONE DOLLAR AND 80 cents.
I just figured if it’s that lucrative why don’t we all do it Oh thats right…you libs want US CONSERVATIVES to pay for it.
BRB…gonna go but some stock in food stamps
You have a problem with that? I guess as a MAGAT you figure it is only good and we have no problem getting rid of SNAP if it turned out you spend 1 dollar on SNAP and the economy grows by 50cents. THAT you can turn into a Trump/Musk attack on the system, that and ANNOUNCING with ZERO evidence MASSIVE FRAUD.
That is the usual MO of your corrupter in chief.
I assume that is FINE with you, your Lord Trump says it, it is AUTOMATICALLY true so you give up what's left of your brain BESIDES losing whatever balls you used to have, the part that says believe by verify. Tell me, when was the last time you fact checked your Lord Trump in ANY of his 30,000 lies? If EVER.
@wildgrass saidYeah, well our corrupter in Chief Trump never even goes that far, Musk goes, MASSIVE FRAUD in SNAP. Trump goes, Oh, I did not know that. Ok KILL SNAP.

JUST LIKE KILLING USAID.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidSame math shows $1 in corporate tax cuts only return $0.34 to the economy. Conservatives have completely lost the argument on economics. You probably still believe in trickle down economics?

@sonhouse saidNo my point was that it's incorrect to say that snap benefits the economy directly. All you are doing is moving money around. SNAP is still useful.. for feeding people.

R&D investments are what grows economies. Things like the NIH.
@wildgrass saidYeah, Trump LOVES research which is why he killed the cancer research program.

One point in the blurb I printed is if a child actually goes hungry enough to really effect their growth rate and is a foot smaller than normal, the cost of remediation like a stretch in the hospital or some such. The bucks spent by SNAP on a kids meal of a few bucks is hundreds of bucks less if that kid has to go to ER or whatever to make up for the lost nutrition. Cost of food is noticeably cheaper than a night in ER.
@sonhouse saidSure, but the flip side is all the junk food bought using SNAP. Of course poor kids should not be prevented from eating cookies or drinking soda, but they're drinking A LOT of it according to EBT numbers.

Can't really put good numbers on it. SNAP is good, but should not be misinterpreted as economic stimulus.
@wildgrass saidWell it should not be considered an economic loss either. Trump and Musk and Miller and Vought and Johnson and just about every fking repub in congress I have no doubt think it IS a waste of money, who gives a rats ass if a kid starves, he is not old enough to vote.......
