Au contraire. We knew who Donald Trump was when he was still a money-grubbing real estate wanna-be in NYC. We knew it would not bode well for the US to give him any amount of oxygen to spread his toxic nonsense far and wide, because he's stupid enough and racist enough yet rich enough to succeed in causing Americans to want the wrong things for this country. Many of us (including, notably, the people who knew him best, the citizens of New York) knew him to be a blowhard liar whose only concern was making money any way he knew how, which was mostly buffaloing stupid people to spend their last dimes on the worthless crap he was selling. We already knew stupid people reacted viscerally to him, so if he ever got enough TV exposure he would be loved and admired by the most stupid people on the planet, mainly the outrageously stupid and racist hillbilly rednecks of the American South.
You seem to fall exactly in this group of stupid and racist people, even though you live even further south in the Caribbean.
In short, fully half of America already knew he was an evil bastard and a toxic narcissist, no "all of a sudden" needed (and those ARE his "best" qualities, there is nothing good in this man). Anyone with half a brain in this country had already written him off as a ridiculous choice for president.
