Apparently some conservative leaning southern Cal lawmakers are fed up with being dictated to by liberals who dominate the state government and are using this 4rth of July celebration to begin talking about the possibility of 13 conservative leaning counties to secede from California.

I have to say, I have considered conservative states like Texas possibly doing this someday as they are dicated to in a similar fashion by the federal government but not counties in a state. I do realize that this is probably just hype but it is nonetheless interesting to consider. Should they be allowed to do so?

If they do maybe they will allow polygamsts to marry.

Of course, if we frame the question about gay polygamists being able to marry, maybe the entire nation will allow them to do so. 😛

Good luck with that. I'm curious how long they'll make it on their own.

As for Texas: as it turns out, by succeeding they would actually lose money.

But maybe if Rick Perry runs for president, they'll stick around.

nah, i think 50 states are enough. we have enough dinky north/south states, no need to add another pair.

Fine with me if they leave. Maybe without Orange and San Diego counties we can actually get something productive done!

You never seem to say anything about liberal leaning counties in conservative states. Do you know why they don't try to secede?? It's called the rule of law. Tell the conservative crybabies from California they can move to Alabama anytime they wish!

I'd be absolutely thrilled if Jesusland seceded from the U.S. Then the rest of the nation would have a chance of entering the 21st century before the year 3,000.

Actually, liberals did discuss a Northern California break from Southern California about 20 years ago, before they started winning statewide elections regularly. One of the proposals involved a cutoff point at San Luis Obispo.
