Gives me the creeps, because it's sooooooooo true. The comments are most illuminating and hammer the point home. Western european diplomats are quite different than the other UN slobs. I wonder why.

"other UN slobs?" Don't be so PC about it! Why not come right out and say it...Islamic diplomats don't think their crap stinks, that's why the do this. It's just another chip in the brick of the myriad of reasons of their non-advancement into the 21st century....

Well the article says it's about corruption and cultural attitudes rather than any nice smells.

Let's not forget Mexico, where government graft and corruption are not only accepted, but expected, from the lowest officials to the highest.

It’s clear that the diplomats who abuse their immunity have a poorly developed sense of right and wrong, which explains the unethical behaviour of not just themselves but of their countries. Keep in mind these are the best, most intelligent and refined people that these nations have to offer. We can’t expect much from the rest of them, now, can we?

You describe politicians and government representatives as the best, most intelligent and refined people 😲

Yeah,

George Bush is a great example of American Intellect. I'm surprised the rest of the nation can get up and tie their shoelaces in the morning.

Don't get cute, you know what I meant and that I'm right. To be part of a countries diplomatic corps means you're educated and selected from the upper social strata.
And don't point out some douchebag communist country that threw a potato farmer in for face value back in the 50's and say that invalidates everything.

I'm not arguing with you, particularly as you don't seem to have arguments as such. I am just questioning your idea that you would expect to find the "best" at the top.

I'm rubbish at paying parking tickets. Should the police arrest me as a potential murderer?

Oh....alright, I'll concede the point. Perhaps "best" was a poor choice of words.
How about vastly more educated, generally more intelligent, certainly more worldly and socially polished than the majority of people scratching dirt and starving in the rest of the third world country they come from.
Does that sound about right?

how does limousine/chauffeur usage factor in?

is the ambassador from Mali driving his own 73 Datsun? as opposed to those other guys, who can run into the UN building and have their chauffeurs cruise around the block for awhile?

(i guess that wouldn't go for the ambassador from Kuwait.)

OOOOOOOh! Unpaid parking tickets. Gosh that's really a good indicator of cultural inferiority.
