Some admit this, some, such as Bush, make up stories how their greed leads to good or is moralistic, it's quite funny. The funniest thing I've seen cons do often, is talk about how welfare is immoral and then they mention this little fish story, it's all very humorous and entertaining. I think we all know the only reason they want welfare gone is greed, no morals included.
Is LYING (say, about WMD's) moral?
Originally posted by AThousandYoungWhat if you wanted WMD to be so true, and actually beleived it so much, that you pressuried the CIA to make it the truth? That's basicly what Bush did, he used any peice of evidence for WMD, many of it skeptical and minor, and used it as a hawk justification for war. I don't think the man is a liar, he really beleives this crap, HIS crap.
It can be. I don't think lying about WMDs was moral, if it was a lie. It may have simply been a mistake, or a conclusion based on flawed evidence.

What? I answered the question and gave a reason why the statement may not have been a lie. What is more "on task" than that? What the hell do you mean Americans lack morality? You always seemed so rational before. What happened?
Here is a more clear restatement of my position:
Lying can be moral.
If Bush lied about WMDs, it was probably immoral.
Bush may not have been lying about WMDs.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungBush and others in his administration stated it was an absolute fact that Saddam presently had WMDs (I'll get quotes if you want; there are many). Since they could not have known it was true (as it was not), their statement stating it has fact was a lie. A statement "we believe he has WMD" would have (apparently) been true, but wouldn't have been a very convincing argument for war, would it? So, therefore, they deliberatively made statements the truth of which was in doubt, but expressed no doubt about the truth in order to convince people to go to war. If that ain't immoral, I don't know what is.
