One serious question, though: Why do they have do go round and round and round so many damned times? Wouldn't one or two circuits be enough and get the thing over with in half an hour? What's the point in going round and round all afternoon? How many waves and thumbs up from the crowd do you need?

They can do what they want. They want to ride around on their bikes until their gas tanks are empty; that's up to y'all, as they say. I'm not sure why DC lets them close down 5 miles of downtown streets for 4 hours on one of the heaviest tourism days of the year to do it, though.
