Completely illogical. No one ever claimed the Nazis or the Japanese made us stronger and no one should ever claim that 9/11 did the same.
The Nazis and Japanese turned us into the superpower we are today.

Is it your position that I owe the Nazis a thank you?

Nope! We are stronger, not better.

We only need to thank people for making us better, but not stronger?

Our enemies did not set out to make us stronger at their expense. We do not thank people for threatening us into becoming better killers.

Its not a huge issue but it is the topic of this debate: I don't think we should look at terrorist attacks as things we absorb and I certainly do not think it made this country stronger.
I do find it real interesting that people seem to think that WWII and 9/11 made us stronger.

The fear you exhibit - all out of proportion to the actual, physical threat - is precisely what the enemies were trying to create throughout the populace. Obama's comment is an admission of fact that communicates our raw power while discouraging hawks.

EDIT - The military-industrial complex that recently executed Saddam Hussein was created by WWII my friend.

I understand that terrorists wish to create fear but falsely responding that the US is stronger than ever is certainly unconvincing to me.

I don't live in fear (but I do understand that by commuting to work ever day) I am potentially risking my life.

I am not sure what we gained by executing Saddam Hussien and if it is 100% connected with 9/11. But whatever we gained, it in no way conterbalances the damages of terrorism.

What we gained by killing Saddam and how connected it was to 9/11 is irrelevant. The strength it took to do that came from the MIC that was created by WWII.

So I look at 9/11 as an event where people were lives were lost, businesses were destroyed, freedoms are lost, billions are spent but wow we are strong we killed Sadam Hussien?

What freedoms were lost due to 9/11 specifically?

My bags are subject to check on my daily commute they never were before. Airport security is ramped up. There is much more security in most office building is NYC. There are people with guns at the top of Penn Station. There are street which are blocked off that never were before.
