I have. Perhaps you should and then try to answer my question.

Anyone who sexually molests another is a predator.

Your opening post talks of "a troubled child".
Unless you possess a time-machine how do you know they will molest your own children?

You will know that such people have a much greater chance. If you choose to endanger your child in such a way, it seems to me that you should be held responsible.

How do you know if your child will be killed by not wearing a seat belt? I never wore one growing up. Why are there laws about wearing seat belts? Only if you have a time machine will you know if you need one.

it depends on what you mean by 'troubled child'. some 'troubled' children will be no more likely to commit a sex crime than anybody else. some will have a slightly higher and so on. it would also depend on how old the child was when adopted.

It also depends on what kind of abuse the child has been through.

Nice deflection of my question.
I haven't the energy to continue.

You are married and have 2 kids of your own. You see a troubled youth and want to save that child.

You know that the troubled child will bring problems to your home and cause problems that your children will need to deal with. You decide to do it.

The troubled child ends up molesting your children and abusing them in other ways.

Should you be put i ...[text shortened]... the adult that adopted the troubled kid. I don't know if it was adoption or simply foster care.
A "troubled" child needs much more attention, love and space than other children. You really shouldn't adopt such a child if you have your hands full with children of your own. No matter what your intentions may be, you will never give another person's child more love and attention than you give your own, leaving the "troubled" child feeling like an outsider and a burden, and that has psychological and behavioural consequences. I don't think anyone who lacks the proper training and time should be allowed to raise a child with serious psychological and/or emotional problems. Not without professional help, at least. And if they do, and can't handle it, there should be legal consequences.

Other children who are thrown into the lives of these troubled youth need to be protected. Adults who do this need to be held responsible, even if it is a trained adult.

I agree on both counts. I just think a "trained" adult would be better equipped not to make that mistake.
