Seeing how you are only an accountant, you would do well (i.e. make less an ass of yourself) if you walked with a bigger dose of humility in these matters. Palynka, like myself, is probably just too bored/disgusted with your level of discussion to devote any effort. By the way, if you actually have some reasonable solutions to developing Sub-Saharan Africa, I too would love to hear them.

Internal problems are inseparable from external, especially when the outside has worked so hard for so long to assure internal chaos. That's almost the definition of colonialism, so your hypothetical disagreement disproves itself.
America prospers with stupid leadership, surely African nations can do the same.

Myself, I suspect political institutions hinder the adoption of superior technology. This hypothesis is growing in popularity among economists. Check out Parente and Prescott's Barriers to Riches. I also suspect that these restrictive political institutions would persist longer in post-colonial states though I'd have to do the research to find out.
Now can you grace us with your ideas or are you as full of s&%$ as I suspect?
Originally posted by Rajk999well, look at the areas that are the most troubled in the world today: africa was carved up by european powers pre WWI with no regard for the tribal or national boundries as they existed, then africa was abandoned to the africans. so warlords seize power and brutally subjugate the citizenry. the middle east was also carved up by european powers - mostly france and england - again with no regard for ethnic or tribal boundries and the current situation is the result. the first gulf war was about iraq reclaiming a oil-rich chunk of land that was sectioned off by the british and made into kuwait. the current civil war in iraq is a result of those tribal boundries resurfacing. maybe saddam was as cruel as he was because he had to hold together a nation that should have never been a nation in the first place. the tension between india and pakistan is probably what we should all be worried about and this too is the result of european colonialism. the tension between china and japan is partially the result of japanese colonialism. so clearly, very many of the world's problems are caused by colonialism and the mindset that makes colonialism possible.

You're the one saying you have solutions and then refuse to post them. Is that "adding value to the thread"?
