“The giant online retailer said it has signed a new lease for 335,000 square feet on the city’s west side in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood, where it will have more than 1,500 employees,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Amazon is taking the space without any of the special tax credits and other inducements the company had been offered to build a new headquarters in the Queens neighborhood of Long Island City, the company said.”

So, the State and City really didn't need to give it $3 billion in tax breaks and credits.
I hate to say I told ya so but ................................................
Actually, I don't hate to at all.
To any genius who can't wait to point out that the initial deal had 25000 jobs in it:
No it didn't. It had a vague promise of 25000, with no consequences attached if it didn't hire 25000, with nothing to say by which date that 25k target should be reached and nothing to force them to hire from NYC
that whine is coming i just wanted to get the reply out of the way.
