Why are they so average? Some of the old Mustangs and Corvettes are classics, but it seems that the technology and engineering hasn't progressed since the 60's. So why do they keep pumping out outdated, ugly and boring cars?

Watch out for continuous R&D for something new and wonderful even in Ford, though it may not necessarily be pretty for everyone's taste.

Haven't you checked out the new Chargers? How about the Magnum wagon with the Hemi motors? I don't know if you can get them in Australia.

Yeah we can't get them in Aus but i have checked them out. I guess it is just personal taste but the styling looks like a box and the HEMI? Well i just kind of think HEMIS's should of stayed in the 70's. I mean sure they are powerful, but they are so un-refined and wasteful. Again, it is personal taste, but i would rather see a smaller V8 squeeze the same amount of power out of it in modern cars. Throttle response is better, more agile, and it sounds evil.

But man, i would love to own a Shelby AC 427 Cobra (i know, part British), or the 350GT. Yee Haw!

I am not saying the Aussie car industry is great. Although they have made some pretty impressive cars in the past. The new Aussie built Fords and Holdens are quite good. The Monaro is excellent (it has a part American part Aussie engine) and is an amazing car. But I also wish they would stop making bigger engines in the quest for more power. I would rather they engineer smaller engines with more output. The finishing is generally good on the interior, and the chassis and control systems are excellent.

For several years running Japanese cars, followed by German, have headed the reliability and customer satisfaction ratings in the UK customer guide publications.
