No, actually I was thinking more about losing faith in the institutions of power, specifically the political parties no longer acknowledging that other parties represent legitimate interests, eroding the separation of the three branches of govt, causing a large segment of the population to lose trust in the integrity of elections — that sort of rot.

the only error with this is there are 4 branches of govt now. ALL the power has been taken by the fourth branch.
