I don't know if you guys saw the movie, but any normal person would get up and do something if they knew that terrorists are bombing your country. But no, what does George Bush do? he sits like a stupid cow in a nursery school for half an hour until he actually realises that he has to get up from his fat a*s and do something like warn the country of the attack.

In my opinion Bush is pathetic.

Did you just crawl out from underneath a rock?...that news is three years old, and he has done something since 9-11. He liberated Afghanistan and allowed them to have free elections....he's trying to do the same in Iraq, albeit it possibly the wrong way. What would your reaction be if someone had just told you that your entire family was wiped out in a cataclysmic episode?...let me guess, you'd go right on munching your peanuts, watching your episode of "friends"...you people act like Bush should have shed his suit on site at the very moment of truth to reveal his "B" on his chest and his blue cape flowing in the wind.... how ridiculous! 🙄 😴

Maybe he should have read the CIA report warning that Bin Laden was planning to fly planes into the towers given to him months before the incident happened, instead of fishing and playing golf.

Oh no, that's a pathetic idea isn't it?

No, Howard, that actually is what he should have done...instead of plying golf...damn, if I ain't agreeing with you on something!...next thing, snakes are going to fly! Actually, John O'Neil, head of New York's FBI division and expert on Al-Qaeda, tried to warn the Clinton and Bush administration about Al-Qaeda's intentions but was ignored...sadly, he perished in the WTC tragedy.....

And what is your opinion of Dan Rather?

The movie was a clear piece of propaganda--sort like watching the O'Reilly Factor, but from the other side. Two hours of each, and you've filled your mind with weak allegations (many true).

Spend the same four hours reading the latest issues of The National Review and The Nation and you've exposed yourself to the vigorous debate that continues in America, despite the efforts of the mainstream media to pretend otherwise.

What would you have done?
I think it's easy to say shoulda coulda woulda.

How many threats does the U.S get in a day. Even before 911?
How many of them are real?
How does ONE man respond?

I think events leading to 911 are left to judge (obviously)
Events after are justified.

If the terrorist attacks justify the attack on our civil liberties under the Bush administration, then the terrorists have already won the war. They've destroyed the way of life we are seeking to impose on their former havens.

To sit and do nothing would leave us in fear. . . then they win every day. They drove a plane into our lives. WE need to protect the civil liberties you speak of.

Paul, surely you're not saying that one can't have a low opinion of W because of the existence of Dan Rather?

Flying planes into the Trade Center wreacked all kinds of violence, but did not impact our civil liberties in the slightest. Bush's cowboy reaction, and the revival of a national security state that Tail-gunner Joe could only wish for, on the other hand, has been the most thorough assault on the Bill of Rights since 1791.

We had an opportunity to protect our civil liberties in early November, and the people didn't want that. Now, we enjoy four more years of bliss!

Words like "democracy," and "freedom" have enough appeal to most Americans that there will be precious little of either remaining when the bubble bursts.

I don't know, I think I would have reacted close to the same.
Sure it could have been handled differently, but what would other contries do if it happened to them on a huge scale like this. We lost thousands of people trying to enjoy the freedom to work in those towers. Hind-sight is 20/20. Bush reacted quick, piseed off many, but stood up to the "slap in the face".

O'Reilly is fair and balanced..he has liberals and conservatives come on to debate...watch it some time; you may learn something....😉 "Mainstream media"? you just became able to handle the truth because O'Reilly ain't mainstream media....

Well, there is truth and then there is truth. Nothing in F9/11 was a lie, it was all true. It is all a question of how you spin it.

I have watched O'Reilly. I learned that he is only slightly better informed than Rush Limbaugh, and that he employs the same sorts of inflammatory rhetoric.

If the "truth" is the conservative's take on things, it is much better represented in The National Review than on Fox. The problem with The National Review for most Fox viewers is that they take the time to comprehend the nuances of the issues that don't fit into the thrash and bash TV format. That's why I prefer oppositional news magazines: The Nation on the left, and The National Review on the right over the extended sound bites of Bill O'Reilly and Michael Moore.

Lately, I've been reading Foreign Affairs and a stack of book on US foreign policy. Not many--of any political perspective--who work in the intelligence community have professed much hope that the invasion of Iraq has, or will, make us safer from terrorism.
