Of course, we are not just talking about the Sudan of today. What of the last 20 years? Where was the Arab League the last 20 years?
Sticking up for what it believed was the interests of its ruling regimes.

A lot is said and more implied in Erdogan's take on the situation:

A new playing field is emerging. Comments welcome.

Nobody likes Khaddaffi (or however it's spelled). That's why.

And probably because they basically said so when things were looking bad for Ghadafi (or however you spell it), they hope to sweet Allah that he does topple. No matter what the cost.

As the wise Taoist monk once whispered: "We shall see."
The traditional African kings of sub Saharan Africa like him.

If the Turks play their cards right they will come out of this in a strong position.

A lot of despots without a shred of credibility 'like' him -- as long as he's got money to coopt them.

At least Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini told him to get stuffed a couple months back. Not that Zwelithini is fantastic, but that counts for something.

An enormous amount is at stake in this conflict, Libya is just the start.

Oooh, the Zulus are the most legendary and ferocious of the black Africans tribes (from the outside anyway). That's good.

No. In FMF's world the fact that "things are much better in the Sudan" is to be welcomed. So you maintain that the genocide has not abated?
So now FMF has changed his position from genocide has stopped to abated?

If you think "the genocide" is "ongoing", that's fine. Personally, I welcome the positive developments in that region and note, with interest, that you seemed totally unaware of the fact that the situation had changed on the ground [see previous page]. I suppose we must just take it all with a pinch of salt when whodey accuses anti-Zionists of being anti-Semites, and when you accuse people who don't start threads about Sudan of condoning "genocide".

Even when you back away from your statements you go on the attack. Hilarious.

Not backing away from anything, whodey. Here it is again: "Haven't you been following the story? Beginning of this year they had a referendum and the people of Southern Sudan voted for independence from Sudan which will come into being in July. The War in Darfur seems to have ground to a relative halt and it would be, I think, rather odd to describe the genocide as "ongoing", unless - for the purposes of your jaded Forum hyperbole, whodey - you didn't actually care whether it's ongoing or not. " Nothing hilarious about it.

What's this "attack" you speak of? It has been you - not me - who has tried to use the genocide in Sudan as a platform from which to smear others here with the worst insults that you can dream up. Support for genocide. Support for anti-Semitism. Support for terrorism. Support for such and such an Arab opportunist in 1942 meaning support for Hitler, or whatever. Now, as I said, if you think the genocide in Sudan hasn't abated, and if you think it isn't a little odd to describe it as "ongoing" - when you clearly hadn't been following the story - then that's a matter for you. Pointing this out is not an "attack". I have never accused you of condoning genocide. Now that's what I would call an "attack".
