(CNN) -- The health of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat deteriorated Wednesday and a team of doctors was treating him at his Ramallah compound in the West Bank, said Arafat's senior adviser, Nabil abu Rudeineh.

All this big talk Isreal had about killing the man is short sighted and starting to show itself now. In fact, they are even willing to help him at this point. They know Arafat is a noble peace prize winner and was the closest thing to peace the Palestinians and Isrealis ever had, and if he dies, Hamas will gain control, and the Isrealis will not like that, heck, the entire world would not like that.

"Arafat to get treatment in France"

France has confirmed that ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will be flown to Paris "imminently" for hospital treatment.

Great, why did it have to be France? I can just imagine how Bush will use this as another anti-French ammunition and justification, even though he knows things would be worse if Arafat dies.

France always has had good relations with the Arab nations.

... and no, Bush will not use this instance to bash France. You wanna bet ?

Quite right. Arafat is the Palestinian ELECTED leader.
When he goes, the PLO will probably lose a lot of ground to Hamas.

This, of course, they have already done. But who is the world going to support on the Palestinian side when there's only Hamas left?

The "support" the world has been giving the Palestinian side compared to the support the West has been giving Israel is minimal. This will be as good as an excuse as any to give even less.

Doesn't Arafat's wife live in France?

Yes, she is young, blonde and looks like she is about 40 years younger than him. He hasn't seen her in something like 3 years. I think he's been in that compound a little too long. She kind of looks like she would raise holy hell with him about the way that place looks.
