The move follows a report earlier this year from America's leading health agency, the Center for Disease Control, which revealed one in four teenage girls has a sexually transmitted disease.

I'd say no. Next time your country is invaded by American springbreakers (like Cancun or Rosarito in Mexico), please keep your intimate parts away from the drunken & predictable American teens.

At the most, tell them to show your her t's. They always do when they're drunk (or stoned).

Debate.

Read the title of the thread.

Are they?

Are they not?

Why one out of four? What's the problem? How to solve it?

Also, read the BBC link. Do you think it is ok or not ok to cut the spending in abstinence promotion amongst the youth?

C'mon, man, this is IMPORTANT!

Another hard fact:

12.5% of the male population of the world in the 14-18 age range achieves its deflowering thanks to a drunk American teenage girl.

We must do something, people! This is serious! 😠

P.S. The words "hard fact" are used solely for comedic purposes. The author of the post disclaims all liability for a misintepretation produced from the latter. The characters portrayed in this post are part of a fictional work. Any resemblance to the reality is a mere coincidence.

They aren't being taught about the facts of life due to the irritating authoritarian Christians in government. Keep kids ignorant and they do stupid things. 😕

Although I "get to" (or "got to"😉 teach some version of family life at each school I've worked at, I still don't see why it's the school's job to do this. With all the non-academic stuff that keeps getting added, I wonder if parents stop talking to their kids the day they enter Kindergarten! (Our family life program starts Monday, so it's on my mind...)

Schools are for educating. Some standard topics include Health and Life Science. How can you NOT discuss sex, birth control, STDs etc in such classes? Why do you think human sex is somehow not academic?

that's what happens when schools are told they can teach abstinance only sex education. Thankfuly, my wife and I are not total prudes. We have very frank discussions with our kids about sexuality, birth control, abortion, std's, etc.... So far so good, no std's, no unwanted pregnancy's.

That does far more for your kids than anything they're going to hear from a teacher! My mother's messages, both spoken and unspoken, pretty much boiled down to "sex is a great game without rules." So I didn't even bother listening to anything they said in health class.

Oh. Well your case is a bit different then. I teach seventh and eighth graders.

Kids must know the full story and spectrum of possibilities.

It is foolish to give sex that "prohibited" halo.

I don't think it's an education thing at all. I'm 15 years old and I've had about 1/4 of a semester of sex ed. I think that this really has to do with morals. Some of us have them, but some don't. I plan on practicing abstinence until marriage, but that was a personal choice. I had no parental influence on the decision at all. It could be on a genetic level even, but I have no idea.

Where were you exposed to these "morals" if not from your parents? Why do you think pre-marital sex is immoral?
