My own opinion on this is that he existed, but was not a king, rather a dominating warlord in the 6th century AD. Your thoughts?

i imagine the myths are based on a combination of fiction and a few different warlords and kings.

i think the name "arthur" began somewhere then and has held the myth together nicely, and led people to focus all the stories back to a hypothetical individual.
